Some of the Projects Funded by the Rotary Club of Haney

Rotary House Lawnbowling Club $150,000   Ongoing opportunity for seniors and others to stay physically active.

Rotary Spray Park- Harris Park   $15,000 Opportunity for families to participate in active play

Greg Moore Youth Centre$20,000Purchase of a youth outreach initiative Van used to transport youth to program opportunities

Iron Horse Youth Safe House $50,000-Provides a safe  place for youth to stay or get off the street and get their lives together

Maple Ridge Hospital $35,000 Participation in the recent capital campaign for the new Emergency Ward

MR Hospital CT Scanner $20,000-Ensure easier access to this technology in MR and PM

ASSN for Community Living$25,000 Contribution for construction of supportive living units for clients with developmental challenges.

Bursaries  $22,500 Awarded to 15 secondary school graduates from each school for $1500 each in 2009

 UBC's Loon Lake Research and Education Centre in Maple Ridge $60,000

Arts Programs in Schools $5000 per year  Awarded directly to schools in support of visual or performing art related projects. 

Community Events range from $5000-$10,000Support is provided every year for a wide variety of community events including the family fireworks display, the Meals on Wheels program, BC Summer Games in 1998, Disability Games in 2009

On top of this Rotary contributes every year to a wide variety of other projects such as literacy programs, student exchange programs, student leadership programs(RYLA) , after school programs, etc.

Shelter Box $5800  in 2009 A Rotary International sanctioned project to provide emergency shelter and the basic necessities to people who have lost their homes due to natural disasters

Wheelchairs to the Third World  -Provide wheelchairs to people in the third world who otherwise would have no mobility.

Polio Eradication US$650million has been given by Rotary Members since 1985 when Polio Plus was launched.  Countless volunteer man hours by Rotarians have been given administering the vaccine.  Polio cases have now dropped by 99%.

Fresh Water Initiatives-Providing fresh water to villages in third world countries by drilling wells or building cisterns.
